Back in Dublin
Today we finally made it to Tipperary and Jen could really feel that it was her land, her country!! We've had some confusion about the town of Kilfeacle which was the name of a village mentioned on the gravestone of William Moloney at Toowong cemetery. Sometimes it is spelt with a 'c' and sometimes a 'k'. The mystery was solved today when we discovered that even within the village itself, it is spelt in two different ways. It must be very confusing for the postman! Even google maps seemed to think it was two different places. We searched the headstones in Kilfeacle and the next two villages and did find some Moloney headstones, but none of them dated back to the years we were looking for and any that were very old were too weathered to read. So, alas, we didn't find the missing pieces to the puzzle. Jennie is spending time tomorrow in the National library (a short walk from our lodgings) in the hope that there will be some records that will help. Dan and I are going to do our own thing. I'm thinking the Dublin castle looks great and Templeton which apparently still has cobbled streets. These are within walking distance. Dublin is in the middle of a heat wave at present - 24 degrees!
