We made the decision to leave Chester early for two reasons. The house we were staying in was owned by smokers and the smell,of cigarette smoke permeated everything - even our pillows and towels. We were starting to feel the effects of this with swollen eyes and bad sinuses etc. Apart from this we felt that we wouldn't fit in a visit to the Peaks district if we stayed in Chester far an extra night. So we made the rash decision to book rooms in a B&B in Sheffield so that we could go across country through the peaks district. We're really glad we did this and although the B&B is budget accommodation, it's clean and welcoming. It's bloody hot here though!! The B&B is over three levels and the stairs leading to the bathrooms and bedrooms are really steep! The reviews described them as being like ladders but that is an exaggeration. As Jen said, ladders have spaces between the rungs! Anyway, it's just for a night and we'll head off to Peebles tomorrow morning after brekkie at 8. We're certainly looking forward to having our own place for 8 nights where we can do our own cooking and relax a bit.
The Peaks District was lovely with some stunning scenery. Buxton and Castleton were very pretty and the hilly roads gave us some great vantage points.
We are missing everyone back at home and hope that everyone is well. Sam is continuing to enjoy herself in New York. Daniel is now home - Ralphie was overjoyed apparently!
We had a cuppa in Buxton at the huge park
On the road to Castleton

Local primary school in Castleton
Beautiful flowers at the cafe where we had lunch
Huge common in Sheffield
Westie alert - he's there in the distance!
We weren't expecting to find such a beautiful park in Sheffield.
