Bristol to Cornwall

This morning we woke at 3.45 to ensure we got the Dublin airport on time.  It's so hard to get to sleep before 11 when the sun goes down that we ended up having very little sleep.  Dublin airport was a comedy of errors.  We thought things were going well when we found the right place to return the hire car however, things got steadily worse.  As it turns out, we had only paid for checked in baggage for Jennie from Bristol to Dublin and not the return trip.  After much discussion with the recalcitrant Ryanair attendant, we ended up having to pay another 100 euros for the extra bag.  Then we decided it would be great to have a cuppa before either of us fainted.  We lined up for ages, had some brekkie and decided to have a look at which gate our flight departed from.  Jen found the flight and we discovered that it was leaving from a gate at the other end of the terminal.  We moved very fast to the gate which seemed an eternity away, and wondered why the plane had already been boarded and they were rushing us through.  Jen bravely asked if it was Ryanair to which they responded in the negative! And guess where our flight was boarding from?  Yes, the other end of the terminal! Once again, we raced to the gate through crowds of people, along travelators, around corners, along long passageways (are you getting the picture?!) and arrived just in time to board the plane.  There was only one couple behind us and they had made the same mistake! We were exhausted.  We had a tiny bit of shut eye on the plane, but there was a screaming toddler two rows up who really didn't want us to sleep so there you have it.
It was also a bit of a drama picking up the hire car but I won't go into that.  We drove to Bath feeling quite seedy but were vey impressed with the architecture (not the bus loads of tourists!) Bath is somewhere I will come back to, along with Ireland.  Because we were so tired, we decided to keep pushing on to Cornwall - hopefully we will fit Glastonbury in on another day.  The drive to Cornwall was surprisingly easy, give how tired we were.  Our 18th century guesthouse is gorgeous - there are two dogs and two cats so once again, we are quite happy with that.  One of the cats, as you'll see from the photo, is a bigger, longer haired version of Emmy.  One of the dogs is an obsessive, border collie cross.  Jen just couldn't help herself and threw the ball for him.  Now she has an OCD friend for life!
This part of Cornwall is absolutely beautiful.  We've just had dinner on the beach at a gorgeous little cafe at Pentewan and have 'retired to our rooms'! It's only 8 but I feel as if I could sleep for days.
Hope you enjoy the photos.  We are here for three nights so will hopefully get to explore this part of the world really well.

Moggie number 1 - can't remember names!
Emmy's double - he was hit by a car last week but is doing fine now - at great expense to his owners though.
This beach is just down the road from us - absolutely stunning.  On the way here we discovered a gorgeous little village which we'll explore today.  We've discovered we didn't bring enough summery clothes so might have to buy a few things.
This is where we had dinner last night - The Driftwood Cafe.
The photos don't do this place justice!
